Get Your Voice Heard
Last month I had an excellent opportunity to work with Diggs Law firm owned by Mr. Brandon Diggs in Chicago. Mr. Diggs is a family lawyer. He wanted to create a promotional video emphasizing on current social inequality and how Diggs Law Firm could help people to get their voices heard.
Story Line
Idea behind the video was simple. How a social injustice affects people of color and who can provide a legal help. We created a story that would tell about Mr. Diggs being a black lawyer. He visited Minnesota right after George Floyd incident. While talking to him, He mentioned that he is just another black man on the street without his suit. That helped us to create a story that starts with Mr. Diggs getting ready for his work but thoughts that goes on in his mind. From washing his face to to putting on his suit, he talks about how being a black lawyer helps him see things differently that are happening right now.
The message we wanted to deliver from this project was Diggs Law Firm wants to be there for people to get their voices heard.
Production
We shot in Detroit downtown. Focused on shots which will revolve around Mr. Diggs day and thought process while getting ready. Every sentence said by Mr. Diggs was a spontaneous and from heart. He spoke his mind with passion to address current social injustice and his position to help people.
Equipment Used
Sony A7iii and Sony a6400 with DJI Ronin SC and Shotgun Microphone along with Yeti Blue Microphone.
We used stock aerial protest footage from Pexels.
Post-Production
Entire project was like a puzzle for which we knew the final answer but had to find pieces. This puzzle was to synchronize right clip with right message. Post-production was done in Adobe Premier Pro. We wanted an engaging video with smooth transitions yet powerful message. So fade transitions, some masking when he puts on his shirt and suit, some slo-mos and right pauses after a message a delivered.
